After his fall to the dark side and confrontation with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar, the severely injured Anakin Skywalker is recovered by Emperor Palpatine and transformed into the armored Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The sw0834 variant is particularly connected to this transformation through its appearance in the 2017 set 75183 Darth Vader Transformation, which recreates the medical facility scene from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
