Hoth Rebel Troopers formed part of the Rebel Alliance forces stationed at Echo Base on the frozen planet Hoth during Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.

Equipped with specialized cold-weather uniforms, these soldiers were responsible for defending the Rebel base and its surrounding installations against both Hoth's extreme environment and potential Imperial attacks.

Their most famous engagement came during the Battle of Hoth, when the Galactic Empire discovered Echo Base and launched a massive ground assault involving AT-AT walkers, Snowtroopers and other Imperial forces.

While Rebel Snowspeeders attempted to slow the advancing Imperial walkers, Hoth Rebel Troopers defended trenches and defensive positions surrounding the base, helping protect the evacuation of Rebel personnel.

The sw0678 variant was introduced in 2015 through the 75097 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, where it appeared as the Day 17 Hoth Rebel Trooper.

The figure returned in 2016 with 75098 Assault on Hoth – UCS, a large 2,067-piece LEGO Star Wars set dedicated to recreating multiple locations and scenes from the Battle of Hoth.

One of the defining characteristics of sw0678 is its cheek-line facial printing, which differentiates this version from the numerous other Hoth Rebel Trooper variants LEGO has released over the years.

Combined with its recognizable white cold-weather Rebel uniform, this facial design gives the figure its specific identity within the wider family of LEGO Hoth Troopers.

From a collector perspective, sw0678 is also notable for its association with 75098 Assault on Hoth – UCS, one of the largest LEGO interpretations of Echo Base and the Battle of Hoth from this period.

Its neutral Rebel military design makes sw0678 particularly versatile for army building and displays. It can naturally accompany other Hoth Rebel Troopers, Snowspeeder Pilots, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and other Rebel Alliance characters in recreations of Echo Base.

For collectors assembling the evolution of LEGO Hoth Rebel Troopers, sw0678 represents a distinctive mid-2010s variant with a recognizable facial design and direct connection to one of the most famous battles of the Original Trilogy.
